Assymetric extrusion width?

Post by CJWubex »

I am not sure if this is a problem with Kisslicer, CubeItMod, or my CubeX Duo.

I tried the "extrusion width" calibration mentioned in the Kisslicer manual. I printed 20x20x10 box as suggested. However the odd things is that three sides were very close (0.5mm specified, results of 0.47mm to 0.51mm, measured with a digital caliper). But one side (right hand side as I look at the print bed) was thinner (ca. 0.41mm) than the other (left hand side, ca. 0.5mm).

Any ideas?

The one mentioned under "Announcements" when you look at this board.

If it's the first side after the seam it's a problem with M227/228 parameters. M228P is 0 ?

I am not sure of the order of the sides, but looking at the gcode, M228 is added by CubeItMod, and is not in the original. The command that appears after CubeItMod is M228 P0 S0. Does this make sense?

What Giovanni meant was that when the printer prints the cube, the faulty side is the first side to print on every layer?

Yes, I understood that. But I cannot tell at the moment which side was short, as the printer is at work and I am home. However I could log in remotely to check the gcode that I used...

If the small wall is after the seam M228 P0 is good, because this is used to reduce the flow on the first part of the path after the seam.
M228 S0 may cause stringing, using wipe and a little M228 S helps reduce stringing.

Now for your problem, if the small wall is after the seam you can only play with M227 P & S.

Hey

So M228P reduces materiale after seam. And M228S is a stringing parameter...

But what does M227P and M227S do?

Is not exactly like that, M228 S has a great impact on stringing and M228 P has a great impact on the material extruded just after the seam but what they do is explained here ( my post of 19th march, I call static when the printer head doesn't move and dynamic when the printer head is moving) :
