raft separation

Is adjusting the temperature the best way to help make the raft separate easier from the printed model?
I know i can go the route of using PVA on a second extruder. But wanted to see if there was a way to do it without using the 2nd extruder.
My prints are great. But getting the grid off the bottom is really hard moreso than not.
