New Beta Release - 23.10 b5

Post by pjr »

THIS IS A BETA RELEASE AND MAY CONTAIN FAULTS

Notes: This version will open amf, jamf and 3mf files. with the caddition plug-in it will also open STP files.

There are also various other improvements (including purge tower).

Limitations - I found that when a 3mf file contains model modifiers, there may be some issues with the meshes.

This is currently only a Win64 release. Sorry.

Enjoy and please report any faults.

Quick update. I've been using this build for a couple days now.
So far, for the way I am printing - everything just works, including 3mf files.

The brim option is still engaging to all internal features rather than exterior only. This causes problems with some parts that need to be free of a brim for movement. Strangely, the older version 1.6.4 handled brims without this issue.

Update:

I found that setting extrusion width to ~0.35mm using a 0.4mm nozzle, KS applies brim to first layer correctly leaving inside parts untouched. Unfortunately I print often print POM (Delrin) which seems to prefer a slightly larger extrusion width than nozzle.

Additionally, tweaking the Crowning settings seems to change how much a Brim applies, or ignores, the inside parts. Since the older versions don't have the Crowning feature, I assume that's why it had no problem with 1st layer Brim internal parts.

Hey Peter

Microsoft Defender keep deleting the file when I try to download it.
I get this message: Found: Trojan:Script/Wacatac.H!ml

Is there another way to download it?

That is strange as the nozzle diameter is totally irrelevant within KISS (except for the Preload calculation).

I will check this out later.

Thanks

Hi. Likewise, I use M$ Defender. Just downloaded and opened the ZIP file just fine.

At the moment, this is the only way to get this version. The main download pages will be updated hopefully soon, so you may have to wait, sorry.

Can confirm. Defender didn't find a trojan on my end either. I did not like that the file is not signed, but that's it.
I also scanned it with Eset - nothing malicious found.
