Why do I get support material here?

From left to right:
  1. top layer of support below horizontal overhang
  2. bottom layer of horizontal overhang
  3. all layers
Support angle is set to 45°, so IMO support should stop at the level of the second picture.

Am I missing something?

I see some mesh error highlighted. Have you tried correcting them (ie.: netfabb) to see if KS will better digest ?

I ran the stl file through netfabbs cloud service, the fixed version shows a "blade edge" that was not in the original :-)

The unwanted support remains.

I think I saw a setting somewhere to cut it off above a certain height, so it's easy to circumvent in this case.
