How do you properly use M227 settings?

Post by duaneh »

In the Material settings under Destring, there are M227P and M227S. I was under the impression that the P setting was a 'Prime' setting, and therefore increasing this value would cause more material to extrude before the head begins to move. However, I have found the opposite to be true: When I specify .1 for the P value with a Wipe length of 2, I get a gap of 4.5mm where there is only sparse material. Changing the Wipe length to .5 and the P value to -.03 makes everything fill in, but not as clean as I would like. I would just like to understand exactly how these values work and how they affect one another.
In the pictures below, the W is the Wipe setting, while the second number is the M227P value. M227S is .04 in all cases.

Laziness??? I'll check for the latest and download it.

I would STILL like to understand what these parameters actually do.

Well, at least in the latest version they should exactly mean prime and retract lengths.
Not so sure about older ones.

I tried the latest version, but it has a major bug in that it doesn't stop extruding as it's going back to the park position to swap head (cool 1 down, heat the other one up,...), so it leaves a real mess by the time it has switched colors a few times. I had to go back to the old one. I'm actually using 0 for the P setting and .04 for the S, with a wipe of .5. Its not awesome, but better than the default settings.
