One more option for the Fan / Cool (External perimeter)

Post by Bubolz »

As everyone knows the cooling fan's action on materials like ABS and PetG weakens the bond between the layers making the printed pieces fragile along the Z.

For those who prefer to print on these materials, the advanced fan controls only present in Kisslicer greatly enhance the strength and print quality.

The advanced controls allow to trigger the fan only in the loops softening the outer perimeter improving the overhangs and the external appearance of the print at the same time that the fan shutdown during infill print increases the adhesion between the layers, contributing to the mechanical strength of the piece.

Following this principle in order to obtain the maximum resistance combined with a better quality of the external perimeters, I propose add one more speed control for the fan by separating the general control of the loop into two distinct controls, one for the external loops and another for the internal loops (see attached image).

When printing materials such as ABS with thin walls with 3 or more loops, the walls get weak because the kiss keeps the fan on all the loop paths (external and internal).

If there was an independent control only for the external loop the connection would become stronger, the fan could be turned off during internal loops contributing to the better adherence between the layers.
