Hi guys, in the tab "printer"->"extruder hardware" there are two impostation:
-NozLenX
-DvrLenX
What are they for? So, i've read the description, but I don't understand where they are being considered

Re: Setting in "Extruder Hardware" v. 1.6 RC1
Nozzle length = the length of the nozzle bore. Usually 1.5 to 2 times nozzle diameter (E3D nozzles are 2x)
Drive length = the distance between the filament drive pulley and the top of the nozzle bore.

Ok, this is clear.
But, where are they used in the calculations? Retraction? Where?

Preload. The calculation for this needs these values along with cold filament elasticity and hot filament flow, plus some other stuff (which only Jonathan understands...).alil2096 wrote:Ok, this is clear.

Get it right, and wipe/destringing is not necessary.

I decided to access the excellent E3D technical docs and look this up. According to
https://e3d-online.dozuki.com/Document/ ... 8.1%29.pdf
2x is only correct for the 0.60 and 0.80 nozzles. The ratio varies, depending on the nozzle size.

Yes, the 2x value was supplied by E3D at the time of writing. They have since updated their information to 1.5x.calinb wrote: ↑30 Apr 2020, 18:46I decided to access the excellent E3D technical docs and look this up. According to

From John Bamford, 12 June 2017:
And then he replied to a further query on 23 August 2017:Is is dimension 'C' you're asking about? In which case, the length is double the diameter for all nozzles on that schematic. So for your 0.4 mm nozzle will have a hole length of 0.8 mm. This is true for all nozzle types including your copper nozzle.
PeterSorry about the ambiguity, I hadn't noticed the conflicting drawings. The original link to nozzle dimensions is out of date and the data sheet under the V6 nozzles in the correct one. Sorry for the misinformation. As with the data sheet that you've given as a link, the ratio of A to C is 1.5 for 0.25 to 0.4 mm diameter nozzles. The ratio is different for 0.15 and everything above 0.4.
