Re: KISSlicer 1.6 Beta 2.4 is here! (UPDATED 2017-07-14)
Hi, all! There is a new 1.6 Beta 2.4 build out! (Updated the link in the first post.)
Here is the changelog:
2017-07-14 - 1.6 Beta 2.4
* Added in the Preload Experimental Wizard 0.25 factor (should be much closer to the final Tuning Wizard result now)
* Added a minimum OSX version in the KISSlicer.app for Mac users.
2017-07-13 - 1.6 Beta 2.3
* Changed default preload and destring speeds to 20 mm/s.
* Dock works now, and is persistent.
* Renamed BfB firmware type to 3D Systems (CubeX / BFB)
* Fixed some tooltip corruption
* More space around buttons in upper right.
* swapped info and ram display sides
2017-07-12 - 1.6 Beta 2.2
* updated to FLTK 1.3.4-1
* added a "[X] Dock" option on the settings
2017-07-11 - 1.6 Beta 2.1
* moved Settings button and labeled it better
* cleaner UI look in the top right (at least I think so [8^)
* added profile quick-selectors
* Don't display the STL loading progress bar in CLI mode
* Optional all-solid support interface
* Disabled OpenGL text outlining on Macs
* Layer control values can now be either [mm] or [% of Extrusion Width] (see tooltips)
* Fixed ScaleX/Y/Z not clearing paths
* Only show 1 layer at a time on G-code export
thanks,
Jonathan

Re: KISSlicer 1.6 Beta 2.4 is here! (UPDATED 2017-07-14)
I started using the VE Tuning Wizard.
Here's my print. The enclosed red area has chatter at the seam. The enclosed blue area is clean at the seam except for the first three layers (0.6 mm) from the edge.
Is there a sweet spot in the blue area to pick for best Z? In other words should I pick the middle of the blue area, the point in the blue area furthest from the red chatter area or does it not matter? I've had limited time to experiment; hence the reason for my question.
By the way, I used to use retracts of 3 mm with my 750 mm Bowden extruder pre Jonathan's VE Wizard. When I ran the retract wizard (away from my computer and can't remember it's exact name) using values from 0 to 3 and picked the midpoint of the enclosed blue area (5.5 mm) for the VE value, my extruder clogged due to excessive retraction distance. I'm going to try the default retract values of 0 to 1 in the retract wizard next time and see how it goes.

Re: KISSlicer 1.6 Beta 2.4 is here! (UPDATED 2017-07-14)
The best way to do this if there is question is to pick the middle of the good area. Then re-run the calibration print using a tighter range around that in the preloadVE wizard.
So lets say that the wizard calculates a PreloadVE of .75 when you pick a best Z in the middle of the blue area. Rerun the wizard with a value of Z=.5[us] at Z=0 and 1.0[us] at Z=top. That will let you determine a more refined best z.
Once you get some experience you'll likely know where that best z is without reprinting.

Re: KISSlicer 1.6 Beta 2.4 is here! (UPDATED 2017-07-14)
Thanks mhackney, that matched my intuition. Last night when I used the midpoint with my pre-wizard-version-of-Kisslicer retract value of 3 mm I got a clogged extruder. I'll be running the Retract Wizard later today when I get home from work so I can get an optimized retraction distance to match my optimized PreloadVE value. It will be amazing if Kisslicer's optimum PreloadVE value works well with a small, say less than 1 to 1.5 mm, retract distance on my 750 mm Bowden extruder considering I had been working with a 3 mm retract value.

As far as I am aware, the best result is in the blue area as close to the red area as possible.inventabuild wrote:Is there a sweet spot in the blue area to pick for best Z?

Peter, have you run the retract wizard yet? How did your retract values turn out compared to what they were before Jonathan's Amazing Wizards.

Destring wizard. Didn't seem to be any different on a 20mm model with the bounds set 0 to 4mm. So I left everything alone.inventabuild wrote:Peter, have you run the retract wizard yet? How did your retract values turn out compared to what they were before Jonathan's Amazing Wizards.
Still trying to get the seems perfect; the "Join Loop" really helps, but I still need a "Seam Hiding Wizard" for both depth and gap. Too many combinations to do it manually...

Are all the wizards functioning? I'm getting the same output value for all of them; the PreloadVE, Destring, Temp and Flow Rate Wizards.
Is there something I need to do to activate each one?
