Noob user asks about tuning wizards

Post by mokush »

Hello!
Yesterday I tried the tuning wizards, but without much success.
#1 Temp tuning. It was OK, I had to change nothing (200°C for PLA)
#2 Flow. It was pretty suprising, but regarding the results of the printed test object I set my flow to 4,4-4,8 (orig. E3D V6 + Titan, direct drive)
#3 Preload. I run the test twice. At first with the recommended limits and second with zoomed up and down limit. I set my PreloadVE to 0,9728.
#4 Destring. Here I had some problems... The "help" says" I need 3 towers, but does not tell the distance of the objects. Nevermind, I found a model for this test in this forum.
And as no more info is provided I made the test with my own profile settings. Result: nothing. Normally I can print great quality objects with my settings, but the destring test was ugly as hell. Blobs and holes everywhere and horrible top layer.

While the test was printed I found out that:
- Jitter should be 0°
- Seam angle should show to 3 or 9 o'clock.
Am I right in these?

What destring options must be set for the destring test? Leave as it was before? Set to 0? Now the result is tha same in all layers.

Thank you in advance!

WAY off on your flow settings, 4.4 to 4.8?

Your extruder has to be incorrectly calibrated for steps/mm

Ideal setting is 1, with minor adjustment range of 0.9 to 1.1.

Destring should be about 1mm or less.

i have nothing good to say about wizards, understand how the machine works.

I understand how the machine works (I hope so) and the printed objects had no problems before tuning wizards :)
I went back to previous settings.

How are your non-wizard prints turning out?

I've never tried any of the wizards, took countless test prints to manually dial everything in on my printer.

There have been other people that the wizards seem to make prints worse.

The "non-wizard" prints are cool. By using the seam options I can make almost totally hole and blob free objects.
I just rejected my wizarded settings and restored the ones from before.
