Still Need Zero Inflation of Support as Default

Post by PenskeGuy »

Along with negative values to be accepted. The input takes negatives but ignores them. Having Support generated that exceeds the dimensions of the model:
  • Wastes time
  • Wastes material
  • And if you want to achieve the above configuration, wastes more time developing a model that will trick the Support generator into doing what you want; through creative use of modeling and Support Angle.
All Support needs to do is support overhangs. For most prints, Support that is in excess of the actual overhang and supporting air is useless. It isn't supporting anything and sometimes gets in the way. IF you need to Inflate, fine, but having a default Inflate, instead of actual Zero that aligns with the part dimensions, doesn't cover all the bases.

So, the request is to either:
Have Support Inflate 0 == 0
or
Have Support Inflate accept and compute negative values
or
All of the above.

Have you tried meshmixer? I really like the support generation and I think kisslicer could mimic some of the behaviors to really go above and beyond!
