Hello!
I'm a new Pro member to KISSlicer and pretty new to 3D printing entirely. But so far I'm having really good luck with KISS and my Rostock Max v2. The only thing I'm noticing that bothers me a little is my top layers are not filling completely around design holes and there are little openings in places, almost like a screen. This is very minimal, but still not perfect (OCD kicking in, lol). I was first thinking that maybe my extruder calibration was off or maybe my extrusion multiplier but checked both of those and they look correct. My 20x20x10 calibration box is showing a perfect .50mm wall size (which is my nozzle size and layer settings). So which setting should I change to help this issue?
Maybe this is normal, I don't have any other 3D printers to compare to in my area, only pictures online. So let me know too if you think this looks "OK" and will still be strong parts?
It's kind of hard to see in the pictures so I'll load a few different ones.
Thanks in advance for your advice!

Here's a better picture that shows what I'm talking about.

Have you performed a complete calibration, that includes a Solid Cube; not just the Thin Wall Test? Check Davide's manual or use my original instructions (attached).
WTF?!?!? Extension PDF not allowed? Are ya kiddin' me, here??? OK, just strip the ".zip" off the end and you're good to go.

Re: Help with top layer setting please?
Hi,
Thanks for the document! I did all these calibration procedures again from the PDF and I ended up with the exact same settings. The prints turned out perfect. So the only things that changed was I reset all my custom g-code (which I had download from someone else's settings on the seemecnc forum) and I made my own cube like recommended in the document, rather than using the one from Thingiverse. So either the things I'm printing from Thingiverse are defective STL's or there was something in that custom g-code that was messing me up.
Think I'll need to only make a few modifications to the default g-code. It's starting to print before my bed reaches temp, and it doesn't home the hotend at the end. That's all!
Thank!
J

Snide remarks and just get dumped. Give me/us all a break, OK? You seemed to know everything there was to running a forum, so I wondered about your choice of this. Ya know... when someone takes the time to craft a response to a user asking a question, goes through the time to assemble what it takes to deliver that response, so that they may benefit, and we get hit with a pothole of "talk to the hand" in that X file format wasn't thought through enough by the admin that it just might be OK to allow it, it just grates; plain and simple. I had probably been awake and working for approximately four times the hours that you normally spend in a waking state, so getting a roadblock tossed in my path as I tried to help someone just before finally crashing didn't sit well. Apologies for being terse. One miiiiiight say it had been a long day.plexus wrote:Enabled posting of PDFs. thanks for letting me know PenskeGuy in such a nice way.
And, you might do well to re-think your thread directed at me. I haven't read it, and don't plan to—ever, but it doesn't bode well for an admin to throw his weight around because a user gives some feedback. My post was an honest observation. Not "hot-headed" in the least. I'd wager that I'm not the only one who might feel the same way. Just sayin'.... For what it's worth, I do notice that a number of people no longer come here at all anymore. Might want to think about that for a bit before reacting.

Re: Help with top layer setting please?
Guys, IF you are going to visit EXPO in Milan, I would be glad to grab both of you and have several beers (or red wine) together, just to be sure to "fillet" out any "edge" between you.
Beer invite is REAL.
Life is short enough to waste it with un-productive keytapping such as special "sandbox" forum areas for (supposed) flames.
Personally I admire both of you:
-Plexus for having the guts of setting up a forum for all of us.
-Penskeguy for being what it is: lots of practical sense. Some time a bit too direct, yet effective.
Really.
KS community needs you both.
DON'T start a velveteen flame war.
Best Regards
