Sorry for Cross Posting but Jonathan specifically asked me to post this here:

- Ability to change the inset offset for outer perimeters and inner perimeters
(holes) separately to realize even move precision. The inset feature is THE BEST
I have seen for 3D printers. It works like a charm and I can design parts to
press-fit tolerances. 15mm are exactly 15mm. However, this causes the part
outside to shrink as well such that 45mm outlines are only 44.7 or less. This can
help when I have parts that need to fit into each other but I would love to have
control over that offset as well. Would you think detecting the outer perimeter
and adding a separate inset-offset option for that would be a huge effort?

- Add bridge detection with a slicing scheme similar to other slicers where the
bridge does not rely on support material but instead lays down a series of
parallel lines over the gap and then uses these to restart normal layers. At the
moment, the bridge is regarded as a normal bottom layer such that there is two or
three perimeters and the classic zig-zag in between those perimeters. That does
not print well as the zig-zag lines just fall down and look all ugly underneath.
Parallel lines all across the gap would solve that issue in most cases to
stabilize the bridge without support and create a base layer for all following
layers.

- An option to reduce the extrusion amount on the first layer of bridges to keep
the bridges from sagging down during printing the above mentioned parallel lines.
A factor would be awesome. It would also utilize the warp behavior of ABS and
partly PLA to straighten out those first bridge layers more.

Significantly Speed Up Prints: Ext0 For Printing/Ext1 for In

Post by inventabuild »

Jonathan, can you please give us the ability to print the skins with one extruder and the infill with a second extruder? Here's why this is a good idea.

Much larger nozzles like the MOARstruder with a 1.2 mm nozzle significantly speed up print speed, up to 4x faster (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNhcGRvDj_o)

Give a dual extruder with Ext0 nozzle 0.4 mm diameter and Ext1 nozzle 1.2 mm diameter the skin could be printed w/ the fine 0.4 mm nozzle and the infill printed w/ the massive 1.2 mm nozzle to significantly speed up the print and make the part much stronger while also maintaining nice aesthetics on the skin that you can get with a finer nozzle.

I forgot to mention there will need to be a Style setting for each extruder, for example the Nozzle Diameters will be different, Extrusion Widths different, etc

Hi Jonathan
Thanks for this new version.
  • Is it possible to keep the diameter of the Prime pillar independent of the "Inflate Raft & Prime Gap" value?
  • Destring / prime : Could we keep distinct Prime & Suck (speed/length)?
  • the grid do not cover all the surface of the object (hole in object = hole in grid see picture)...can we have an option to allow the grid to cover all the XY area of the part without "Inflate Support" or "Inflate Raft and Prime Gap" ?

When the setting window isn't visible (as it's now a seperate window), it took me some time to find it.

It's the "S" button at the layer slider. I would opt to place it somewhere at the display options. It would be nice to have an option to have it attached to the 3D window as in the past as well.

Although the new option regarding profiles used to save, reload and extract it from gcode is great, for me to save a project would also include the loaded stl's (best not as packed stl, but as loaded individual stl's) together with the used profiles. Not only profiles in the project file.

It would be nice if it was possible to view travels as well on the 3D / path Gcode feedback windows

Ha! This is no future request, as it's a remark to a new feature ;-)

Also: the possibility to attach the settings box to the 3D window as earlier wouldn't be bad.

The option "display previous layer" is somewhat hidden. It's belonging IMO to the boxes of the 3D window. For example next to the 3D button.
Also: the color of the previous layer is now dark red. Maybe some greay / white color would be more clear.

Another thingy: I would opt -when checking the "model and Paths" button-, that the default is showing all layers, and not the first layer.
