Calibrate extrusion multiplier before preload ve wizard?

Post by guycobb2 »

Title mostly sums it up. I didn’t know if it’s necessary to calibrate the extrusion multiplier prior to running any of the wizards.....specifically the preload wizard.

No it is necessary, but if your print have blobs or gap in the Z seam you will have to run some Wizards most Temperaturen and Flow will helps at start to bring good print. Preload is like a Software linear advance, See as a topping on a Muffin Not necessary but makes life sweeter. :D

I'm having issues with preload. every time I run the test I see about 1.6 preload as the best section of the test model. however, after printing some actual things, the seam is absent of filament for a bit, after the seam. I have about 800mm of drive length and others with similar setups tell me that 1.6 preload sounds really high.

PreloadVE is in µS[microseconds] that's 1 Microseconds = 0.000001 Seconds! So a Preload of 1.6µS( 1.6 Microseconds = 0.0000016 Seconds) is not really high. 800mm Drive length is high. So i think there is no Problem.

Unfortunately, despite 1.6 looking adequate for the test model in the wizard, it yielded a seam lacking filament on the trailing side (the start of the layer). Thoughts?

Possible seam gap and seam depth and wipe settings have to get some "tune".

Possibly, but it was a decent “tear” roughly 1mm or so post the seam.

this is a "blob" then you have to increase the wipe distance.

Does it perform a wipe at the seam? I’ve watched for it, but don’t see it happening.

The "wipe" is an irritating Word. IT meams every time when the extruder Motor stops there is some pressure in/on the filament that want out ( aka oozing). The wipe setting should wipe(use) the ooze to fill that zgap. But to Do this kisslicer must know how much/long the ooze is. So you have to Set the Z gap and the wipe length and voila no gaps
