What are they for? So, i've read the description, but I don't understand where they are being considered

Nozzle length = the length of the nozzle bore. Usually 1.5 to 2 times nozzle diameter (E3D nozzles are 2x)

Drive length = the distance between the filament drive pulley and the top of the nozzle bore.

Ok, this is clear.

But, where are they used in the calculations? Retraction? Where?

Preload. The calculation for this needs these values along with cold filament elasticity and hot filament flow, plus some other stuff (which only Jonathan understands...).

Get it right, and wipe/destringing is not necessary.
