Cube 2 2nd Gen. Successful Kisslicer Prints with CubeitMod

Post by bobo »

Hi all,
I would like to thank Silvood, Giovanni and John Bell for all their input.
I have a Cube 2 2nd Generation firmware 2.08 and have been successfully been slicing with KISSlicer. I have done setups both with and without Cubeitmod. I use Codex to Convert to to .cubepro and then renaming it to .cube
I use Dan's Crap hack Bulk filament technique (removing cartridge mid print) from cube3d.createaforum.
I prefer to use cubeitmod and then tweak it for the cube 2 2nd. Gen. Only issues lately are some stringing but probably printing with lower temps or enabling wipe function would remedy that also.
Let me know if you have any suggestions for improvement.
See KISSlicers settings below.
Thanks
Bob

Cube 2 2nd Gen Successful Kisslicer Prints Without CubeitMod

Post by bobo »

This is my other approach, setting up KISSlicer (Cube 2 2nd Gen. firmware 2.08) without using Cubeitmod.
When the .bfb file is exported I just Encode it with CodeX for CubePro and when finished, just rename the .cubepro to .cube
Make sure you keep the flow adjust very low around 0.035 (other workaround is to change the extruder gain to 0.035 and then flow adjust will become 1 )
Also make sure the z-offset is set to to -0.25 - -0.28 to get a nice squished first layer.
Also make sure comments are disabled in Firmware settings, so the g-code first line will remain ^Firmware:V2.08. Otherwise the Cube 2 won't print it...
With this setup I get better small details then with the CubeitMod, but the first layer (only the first is over extruding and I get molten polymer waves)
Let me know if anybody has some ideas for better tweaking.

:ugeek: Thanks for instructions!
:?: With cubeitmod there is holes in the begining of each layer that I can't fix for now. I've tried different settings in Material section, but useless.
 But, when I've made settings for CodeX & use it, it's works fine. Now I'm waiting the result with 0.15 mm layer height print.
:!: It's a very good quality & speed when using Kisslicer instead of the original Cube software. Good luck!

Hello!

Thanks for uploading your settings!
I'll give a try on the settings available on the other forum (which are downloadable) tomorrow morning :)

I have modified the material cause I'm still using ABS, a large stock in our FabLab ^^
Do you know if I can put a PLA filament despite my ABS cartridge? I have never tried and I don't know if the printer will warn me about a wrong material due to header lines with material?

Moreother, I'm planning on asking to CodeX's developer to make a postprocessor version or giving use sources, allowing us to make it :)

Hello! I`ve just got the 2nd gen cube. Trying to print with the bulk filament, but not wroking properly. So I decided to try kisslicer without cubeitmod(as I understood there are some problems with it)...
But the forum you are refer to is no longer available and I can`t download the ini files. Can anyone help? Or should I just type what I see on the screenshots? Also, I have a firmware version 2.07. Should I upgrade it to 2.08? Or fixing that in the Gcode prefix is enough?
