YES.
The printer will be more consistent, the printed parts are better and you'll able to better "understand" your printer and find the right settings.
If you don't change the voltage you never know what's causing some strange behavior because you're adding a random parameter into the system : the slipping extruder's motor.

Don't forget to put a heat sink on the chip !!!
1.8 V + heat sink that works fine form me.

Giovanni, do you think this heat sink will do the job? I set the voltage at 1.65 using cubex hotends.

Yes, but you can also cut them a little larger than the chip and you can bend the blades to increase the air flow between them.
