Top infill not touching perimeters

Post by DeltaCon »

Hi,
I am using KIS for some time, but not very intelligently ;-)
To change that I bought a premium key (and of course to be on front row!)
With the Alpha I went completely blank and made new profiles.
My first calicube looks pretty okay (despite one shifted layer) but has one major flaw, on the upper layer the infill does not touch the perimeters.
This is already visible in the path preview, like this:

The bottom layer infill is just fine. I cannot imagine wich setting would result in this behaviour. Someone?

While we are at it, I have this strange artefact that follows the contour of the X. Ringing? Strange is that it happens in the wrong direction to be ringing. This is certainly no slicer flaw, because I am having these artifact for a long time now. Maybe some specialist here likes to enlighten me about this ;-)

It would be very useful if you could zip up the model and project file and upload it here.

In any case I sliced the same model in 1.6x version after having copied the exact configuration parameters and there the problem is not occuring.
I won't call it a bug until it's confirmed to be a bug ;-) But I think more people would have stepped on that one by now...
The project-file and the STL is attached.

This is also happening on layers 2 and 3 as well; it's only layer 1 which seems OK with solid infill.

There must be a setting which is causing this to happen, but I haven't been able to find it. Will pass this on as a fault.

I've noticed this as well, loop/solid infill overlap set to a value of 1, is not the same amount of overlap between v1.5 and alpha v2.

I see that v2 can go up to 2, but I haven't run tests yet to find what overlap value in v2 is the same as 1 in v1.5.

Set to 1 in v1.5 I get good overlap with no gaps, and have been since v1.5 came out. Set to 1 in v2, I can peal the perimeter right off of the infill. Not just the top layer, but all layers of the print at 100% infill.

I actually went thru my machine settings first thinking I was picking up backlash on my printer.

All other printing profile setting are the same between versions.

I run 0.75 on both, but next time, have a look at the first layer in "Paths". For me, that was the only layer which was correct (using the provided KSP and model)

From a visual path comparison, v2 loop/solid infill overlap value of 1.9 looks about the same as 1 in earlier releases.

0 overlap in v2 looks about 25-30% more distance between infill and perimeter.

Will test print this weekend.

Thanks for all your efforts.
How many people are testing this alpha? I know it is alpha, but I guessed that there were lots of people testing because of the premium-key profit. So I am surprised that I am the first to mention this ;-) I am curious how this will come out!

There are quite a few of us, but (speaking for myself) there are not many models I print with flat top surfaces (see: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=2371 ), so I never noticed it before.

It has been added to the list of faults (there are quite a few, plus extras to improve functionality).
