Incomplete Top layer with provided settings

Post by localgost »

Hi guys,

I have another issue and hope somebody has another idea how to solve this elegantly:
When using the "(075) Superfine" Style of the provided Prusa i3 MK2 profiles I have massive problems with the top layer:

the small one on the lower right is printed with 0.2mm layer height, there the problem does not arise.

I have already played around with more infill(20%) which is not an option in my opinion. Increasing the skin thickness to 0.6 and reducing the speed helped a little but I did not succeed completely. THe only thing changed to the preconfigured settings is of cource the material stuff (btw already tried to print with 205°C but didn't help) and increased the speed values to the ones pjr uses according to a response I got in the Prusa forum.

I am still testing different settings, but maybe somebody can point me in the right direction.

Thanks again for all your help!

Regards

I had a similar problem, and for me it came down to heat and cooling. I solved the issue by lowering the print temp to 195C, and by not blasting the part with the part cooler (I kept it around 20%). Not sure if this helps, but I hope it does!

I had a similar problem, and resolved it by increasing the infill a little bit (like you did) but mostly increasing the skin thickness (around 0.8mm I think).

Thanks for all your input.

After a lot of test prints, I ended up with the following setup where the top layer was perfect:

I would still be interesting what the secret of the preconfigured style is but at least I got it dialed in now.

Thanks again for your support!

Keep on KISSing 8-)
