kisslicer manual support and RAM

Aloha,
I'm new here and new to 3D printing and Kisslicer is the first slicer I've used,
I'm Slicing big parts 20" H x 12" (dia) 2740 mb and old macOS 10.12.6 G5 Tower 3,1 computer is struggling. Ive updated to a SSD HD and ram to 32 GB (which has helped). How much RAM should I allocate to Kisslicer to run efficiently and NOT to get pop up? It's slow but gets .stl sliced in around five minutes but when I add supports it takes twice as long or more and adds supports inside and places I don't need them.
Is there a way manually add/move supports only where you need it?
Mahalo for your support!
